About Me

-------CHECK US OUT AT FACEBOOK.COM/LITTLEHCROCHET ------- My darling daughter, Little h, has inspired many projects. I design and make custom crochet and paper products for babies and children. I also do some for adults, you just have to ask. Because all of my items are custom made, I have no stock inventory. When you request an item from Little h, it is made lovingly with you in mind. Each item is a work of its own, and while there may be others like it, nothing will ever be exactly the same. Check out my Just Photos page. To request an item, simply email me at littlehcustomdesigns@gmail.com and ask about it or see my Order Form page. You can be as specific or as vague as you like. Don't be afraid to request something you don't see on my blog; I love to try out new things and I can most likely make whatever you want. If I can't, I can point you in the direction of someone who can. I also share my projects with other crafters- I publish some of my original patterns here (check out my Patterns page) as well as on ravelry.com. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Check out my pages for additional info.

Free pattern! Little h Shrug Sweater in Snapdragon

By request, here's another free pattern. Same as before- go ahead and do what you wish with your finished product, but please give credit in person or online. You can link directly to this blog at littlehcustomdesigns.blogspot.com. Thanks and happy hooking!

LITTLE H SHRUG SWEATER

Body of Shrug: Snapdragon Stitch: Multiple of 8 + 5
Size G hook
Thin baby yarn is needed- one color.
Yarn needle
Measuring tape

Gauge: 4 dc = 1inch long

Stitches used:
ch
hdc
dc

This pattern is for size 12 months. For 9 months, start with a chain of 45. For 18 mos, start with a ch of 66. If you would like to make an adult size or any other size, see the end notes.

SHRUG

With main color, chain 53.
R1: Dc in 5th chain from hook. *skip next 3 chs, 5 dc in next stitch (Shell stitch made), skip next 3 chs, (dc, ch 1, dc) in next ch (V-Stitch made), repeat from * across. This is the right side.
R2: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), turn. 2 dc in first ch-1 space (So you're making one half of a Shell Stitch on the edges), skip next 3 dc, work V-Stitich in next dc (it will be the middle dc of the 5 in the shell), *5 dc in next ch-1 space, skip next 3 dc, work V-Stitch in next dc; repeat from * across, then 3 dc in last space.
R3: Ch 4 (counts as first dc plus one ch), turn. Dc in same stitch, *5 dc in next ch-1 space, skip next 3, work V-Stitch in next dc, repeat from * across.
Repeat rows 2 and 3 until piece measures 12 inches in length. End with a number 3 row (or one that begins with a V-Stitch- this will make border easier.) If you would like a shorter shrug, only go until piece measures 10 inches; longer, 14 inches. Now you should have a square or rectangular piece of fabric.

ARM HOLES

Fold the top down to the bottom so that the first and last rows are together. With yarn needle, sew the side of the rectangle from the bottom towards the fold for one inch. Repeat on opposite side.

BORDER

You will be working in rounds. You need to start on the right end of what was your first row. Start with Right Side facing you- your work will be upside down. Join with sl st to ch-3 space to the left of where you have just sewn the arm hole. Ch 2, 3 hdc in same space, *1 hdc in same space as next shell stitch, 3 hdc in next ch-3 sp, repeat from * to next sewn arm hole. After seam, work 1 hdc in top of each stitch and in each ch around to beginning ch. Join with sl st to first hdc, ch 3, do not turn.
R2: work 4 dc in same st as joining (shell stitch made), skip next 3 hdc, *5 dc in next hdc, skip next 3 hdc, repeat around, join with sl st to top of beginning ch. You may need to fudge how many hdc you skip the last few times to have it meet up. Finish off.

END NOTES

Weave in all ends.
To make shrug for any size other than the three listed at the beginning, measure from tip of shoulder to tip of shoulder; add 2 inches. Check your stitches- make sure that you know how many make one inch of double crochets. Then, do the math so you know how many you need to make your shoulder measurement. For instance: If your shoulder measures 14 inches, then you add 2, you have 16. If 4 dcs equal one inch, then you multiply 4 by 16 to get 64. But 64 is not a multiple of 8 + 5, so you need to do a little more math to figure it out. The closest multiple is 61. So you start with 61 chains and work the pattern from there. Any questions, feel free to contact me at littlehcustomdesigns@gmail.com. Enjoy and send pics of completed projects!
